One of the things that stands out about Hamadaya is its deep-rooted connection to the community. The restaurant’s history and its dedication to using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients make every dish feel like it’s crafted with love and care. Walking into the diner, you're greeted by the aroma of sizzling food and the friendly chatter of regulars. It's the kind of place where you feel like part of the family from the moment you sit down.

The menu at Hamadaya offers a delightful mix of classic Japanese comfort food, but with a few twists that keep things interesting. You can’t go wrong with their signature dishes, like the tender grilled fish or the flavorful miso soup. However, one dish that seems to always steal the spotlight is their hearty ramen, with rich broth that has just the right balance of flavors. Many who visit say the noodles are perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of chewiness. They also offer seasonal specials, so you can always expect something new and exciting to try.

If you're in the mood for something lighter, their bento boxes are a great option. These neatly packed meals feature a variety of small, but tasty, portions, giving you a little bit of everything. Whether it’s fried tempura, pickled vegetables, or tender grilled meats, these bento boxes offer a complete and satisfying meal that won’t leave you feeling overly stuffed.

In addition to the food, the restaurant’s atmosphere plays a huge role in its appeal. The simple yet inviting interior creates a calm, relaxed vibe, perfect for enjoying a quiet meal. Whether you're here for a casual lunch or a cozy dinner, the space is always welcoming. Plus, the friendly staff ensures that every visit feels personal. It's this level of care that turns first-time visitors into repeat customers.

What really sets Hamadaya apart, however, is its focus on serving authentic, high-quality dishes without the fancy frills that often accompany upscale dining. The prices are incredibly reasonable, making it an affordable option for anyone craving home-cooked Japanese food. Local ingredients are at the heart of their offerings, and it’s easy to taste the difference in the freshness of each dish. The restaurant makes it a point to use seasonal produce, which ensures that the menu changes throughout the year to reflect the best that nature has to offer.

One thing that keeps customers coming back is the consistency. Hamadaya is one of those rare places where the food is just as good every time you visit. • We went there as part of our Misaki Maguro Ticket. Even tho we arrived a bit late (1:30) and the last order being at 2pm, the kind lady told us that there were no problem if we ordered after 2, since we had to wait in line for at least 30 minutes. The restaurant is small and cozy, it looks quite new and the decor is cute. Since the restaurant was quite full and we were 5 people, they let opened the second floor just for us. As for the food, everything was excellent. The lady took time to explain to us the different part of the tuna we had, and she also kindly explained how to remove the sazae from its shell. The average price, if you don't have the Misaki Ticket, is around 1500¥, which is quite cheap for such high quality maguro! I highly recommend this place!

  • Like many others, we went to this place because of the high number of Google reviews and the line outside. The food was good (nothing mind-blowing), but solid and satisfying. What really stood out was the staff. The lady who served us was incredibly kind, explained which part of the fish we were eating, and even gave us a small candy when we left. That kind of service makes a difference. I recommend it!

  • Delicious maguro! They were just closing for lunch, but let us in (thank you!). Ordered a big set of raw fish and rice and miso as well as a side of fried maguro.

  • We saw people lined up both times we walked this street so we thought it must be good. It certainly was! The food quality was absolutely top notch. And plentiful. Madame Wife had the sashimi moriawase: fresh tuna from different parts of the fish, squid, a shrimp, octopus, and a very tender scallop. More than she could eat so I kindly helped her. My own order was three plump and juicy deep fried shrimp. Superb. Of course both lunches came with a full assortment of savory side dishes, miso soup, and good quality rice. Throw in a no alcohol beer for me (driving) and the total still was only 3400 yen! I’m sure we would have spent at least double that in Tokyo. Most all the clientele were Japanese but the restaurant had English instructions for the self service part which is serve yourself for tea and water, walk a few steps to get your when it’s ready, and return your plates to the counter when done. Oh, and buy your menu choice ticket from the machine when you first enter. After a walk along the ocean and through to the end of Johgashima Park and back you should have a good appetite worked up for Hamadaya’s delicious food. They close at 3:00 so don’t be late!
